Match Report - 03 Oct 2009, Royston Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI lost to Cheshunt 1st XI
Royston were unlucky not to take the points in their first league match of the season. Falling under early pressure from their opposition Royston conceded an early goal despite outstanding play from keeper Mel Harding. Royston fought back with some strong attacking play, however conceded a further goal when Cheshunt were awarded a penalty flick. In the second half Royston upped their game and after a number of goal scoring opportunities Royston converted via Ruth Askham's quality strike from a short corner. Royston continued to apply pressure around the goal but were unfortunately unable to find the equaliser, despite exceptional play from player of the match Sarah Buckerfield.
